How to find the right product?

How to choose?

Before you choose a generator, it’s a good idea to seek professional help to ensure that you choose the best solution for you and your business. There can be huge differences between products, and with hundreds of different products on the market, it is always worth clarifying the parameters you need and expect in advance.

Structure of the generator

What are its components?

In practice, an aggregator is a device that converts the mechanical energy of motion into electrical voltage.

It consists of the following 5 elements, all generators, such as:

  1. Internal combustion engine: this supplies the mechanical energy to the generator. This is the engine that provides the power to the generator. Can be gasoline or diesel powered.
  2. Generator: the device that produces electrical energy from the mechanical energy.
  3. Starter: its main function is to start the electric generator. In industrial machines, this is electric and automatic.
  4. Fuel tank: to provide the fuel needed for the internal combustion engine.
  5. Socket or electrical output: the number and type of sockets on each generator varies according to the model 12V/240V/380V.

The differences between the above will determine the purpose, construction, type and quality of the generator.

INDUSTRIAL OR PROFESSIONAL SIZE?

What makes an aggregator industrial?

The main difference between the aggregators is the different design for each purpose.

The professional and hobby category of aggregators are designed to provide electricity intermittently for a maximum of 4-10 hours per day, while for industrial sized aggregators it is not uncommon to operate 7 days a week, 0-24 hours per day.

A typical difference is that professional aggregators are equipped with an air-cooled motor and have a design life of approximately 3,000-5,000 hours. In contrast, industrial aggregators are typically equipped with a water-cooled motor and are calibrated for 10,000-20,000 hours of operation.

For these reasons, professional-sized generators tend to be fitted with a petrol internal combustion engine, while industrial-sized generators are fitted with a diesel internal combustion engine.

Professional sized machines are mostly single phase 220V output, while industrial generators are 3 phase 400V.

A further difference is that the generator typically runs at a lower speed (1,500 rpm) for industrial machines, while professional/hobby size machines run at a higher speed (3,000 rpm).

Finally, another typical difference is the starting method. Professional machines have manual, pull-start starting, whereas industrial aggregators are equipped with automatic starting and voltage regulation.
